Vaccines are not out of stock, no shortages in states: Health ministry

As the registration for the next phase of Covid-19 vaccinations for all above 18 years of age opens, the health ministry on Tuesday shared data to counter claims that vaccines in several states, including Maharashtra, were out of stock.
 
The data showed that 150 million doses had been given to the states so far, of which 10 million were still available with them. Another 8 million doses would be supplied to them by the Centre in the next three days. The data also showed that vaccine wastage was almost 5 per cent or above in eight states. Covid-19: Delhi reports 24,149 new coronavirus cases in a day, 381 deaths

Delhi reported 24,149 new Covid-19 cases and 381 deaths on Tuesday, the highest single-day toll for the national capital since the outbreak of the pandemic.
 
This is the sixth consecutive day the metropolis has seen daily fatalities of over 300.
 
A Delhi Health Department bulletin said the total coronavirus cases count in the city has gone up to 10,72,065 and the death toll has gone up to 15,009. The positivity rate in Delhi is 32.72 per cent and the case fatality rate is 1.40 per cent.
 
The city now has 98,264 active cases, which is also the highest.

India's Covaxin vaccine 'very important antidote' against Covid: Dr Fauci

Covaxin, India's home-grown Covid-19 vaccine, has been found to neutralise the 617 variant of the deadly virus, White House chief medical adviser and America's top pandemic expert Dr Anthony Fauci said in Washington.
 
Fauci was speaking to reporters during a conference call on Tuesday.

Oxygen shortage limits Delhi Covid centre capacity to admit patients: ITBP

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), tasked to run a newly-created Covid care centre in south Delhi, on Tuesday said that the capacity to admit coronavirus patients at the facility is "limited" due to supply of oxygen.
 
Only 26 patients were admitted here on Tuesday, taking the total admissions to 149 in the 500 oxygen-bed facility.
 
A total of 123 patients were admitted on Monday, the first day of its operation.
 
Some patients, out of the 26, were admitted through referrals on Tuesday, officials said.

Delhi govt withdraws order on Ashoka Hotel Covid-19 centre for HC judges

A day after declaring the Ashoka Hotel a dedicated Covid facility for judges of Delhi High Court and their family members, the Delhi government withdrew the order after the court took exception.
 
"Issued directions to withdraw this order immediately," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia responded to a tweet citing how 100 rooms at the Ashoka Hotel will be converted into a Covid facility for the judges, other judicial members of the Delhi High Court and their families. Read on...
