Four months ago, America's most populous state was struggling to combat a surge in coronavirus hospitalisations that packed patients into outdoor tents and killed hundreds of people each day.
On Friday, Disneyland, California's world-famous theme park, will reopen to visitors after an unprecedented 13-month closure in what tourism officials hope is a sign of the state's rebound from the pandemic. For now, the park is allowing only in-state visitors and operating at limited capacity.

Telangana adds 7,646 new coronavirus infection cases, 53 deaths in a day
Telangana reported 7,646 fresh Covid-19 casestaking the tally to over 4.35 lakh while the toll stood at 2,261 with 53 more casualties.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 1,441, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (631) and Rangareddy (484), a government bulletin said on Friday providing details as of 8 PM on April 29.
The total number of cumulative cases in the state stood at 4,35,606 while with 5,926 patients being cured, the total recoveries were at 355,618.
The state has 77,727 active cases and over 77 thousand samples were tested on Thursday.

Maharashtra extends lockdown till May 15 after recording 66,159 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours
The Maharashtra government has extended the existing lockdown in the state till May 15. Maharashtra has recorded 66,159 new Covid-19 cases and 771 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The State Executive Committee has said, “It is imperative to continue emergency measures to prevent and contain the spread of the virus. The govt in the exercise of the powers conferred under Section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, read with all other enabling provisions of The Disaster Management Act, 2005, finds it is necessary to continue the enforcement of the current restrictions throughout the State beyond 7 am on May 1, 2021 till 7 am on May 15, 2021, to break the chain of transmission effectively.”
The lockdown restrictions were tightened on April 14 and then last week, bringing more activities under their ambit. Prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC, banning the assembly of five or more people at one spot, are in force.
Local train services in Mumbai and public transport are open only for essential services staff of the government. At present, vegetable shops, grocery stores, and milk outlets are allowed to function only between 7 am and 11 am.

Covid-19 stress: Companies may not get immediate relief measures
With no national lockdown amid a surge in Covid incidents and no rush for filing new corporate insolvency cases, the government is not considering any immediate set of relief measures for companies.
Last year, after the pandemic hit India, the government had announced a slew of measures to ease the pressure on companies.

Indian envoy interacts with US business community on Covid relief efforts
India's Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu held an interaction with members of the business community on the current COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country.
The virtual meeting was hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.

In line with President Joe Biden's commitment to support India in its fight against the second wave of the pandemic, an Air Force C-17 Globemaster III, the second US Air-force carrier with COVID-19 relief supplies, has departed for India.
The aircraft's left Travis Air Force Base in California for New Delhi on Thursday (local time) as India fights the second wave of coronavirus which has stressed its healthcare system.

anuj Chauhan, a 25-year-old residential medical officer at Metro Hospital in Gurugram, has lost six patients under his supervision in April.
