Centre fixes maximum price for Covid-19 vaccines at private hospitals
The government has directed private hospitals not to charge more than Rs 780 for a dose of Covishield, Rs 1,410 for Covaxin, and Rs 1,145 for Sputnik V.
This includes the maximum service charge of Rs 150. The CoWIN system would also ensure that the prices declared by various private vaccination centres do not exceed the maximum price. Read on...

West Bengal coronavirus update: reports 98 more deaths, 5,427 fresh cases
West Bengal on Tuesday reported fewer than 100 COVID-19 deaths for the first time in over a month, as 98 more fatalities pushed the toll to 16,460, the state's health department said in a bulletin.
At least 5,427 fresh coronavirus cases were reported from different parts of the state, raising the tally to 14,37,446, it said.
West Bengal now has 19,925 active cases, while 14,01,061 patients have recovered from the disease, including 12,290 since Monday.

Brazil coronavirus update: 2,378 fresh Covid-19 deaths registered
Brazil registered 2,378 more deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 476,792, the health ministry said on Tuesday.
A total of 52,911 new infections were detected, raising the national caseload to 17,037,129, the ministry said.
Brazil has the world's second highest COVID-19 death toll, after the United States, and the third largest caseload, behind the US and India.

Covid came from China, best vaccines come from US: Republican senator
As America dispatches Covid vaccines and medical supplies as aid to countries such as India, an influential Republican senator said the coronavirus "came" from China, while the best vaccines come from the United States.
President Joe Biden had announced that the US will allocate 75 per cent, nearly 1.9 crore of the first tranche of 2.5 crore doses, of unused COVID-19 vaccines from its stockpile through the UN-backed COVAX global vaccine sharing programme to several countries.
"The coronavirus is not over. It is better in the United States, but it's not better in South America. It's not better in sub-Saharan Africa. It's better but not good in India.
