Covid-19 LIVE update: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu tests positive for coronavirus

Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Sunday said he has tested positive for coronavirus and has been hospitalised. "Following fever, I got myself tested and found to be infected by coronavirus," Sriramulu tweeted on Sunday.
 
He has been admitted to the Government Bowring hospital in the city for treatment. The Minister said he is praying to God to heal him soon so that he can get back to public work at the earliest.

Noida's coronavirus tally nears 6,000; active cases rise to 929

Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar on Sunday recorded 77 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the district's tally to 5,945, official data showed.
 
The number of active cases in the district stood at 929, with 85 more patients getting discharged since Saturday, according to the data released by the UP health department.
 
So far, 4,973 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Gautam Buddh Nagar, the second highest in the state after Lucknow (6,531), it showed. The district has recorded 43 deaths linked to coronavirus till now and the mortality rate among positive cases stands at 0.72 per cent, according to official statistics.

Covid-19 LIVE update: Record rise of 506 coronavirus cases in Goa

Goa on Sunday witnessed its highest single-day spike with 506 COVID-19 cases being detected, said state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. He chaired meetings with health officials and medical experts through the morning.
 
"The increase in the number of cases by 506 on Sunday is the highest spike in a single day in the state. We are discussing the issue with the chief minister, who has already announced that Goa will get a second COVID-19 hospital," Rane said. He said patients will be moved to the new COVID-19 facility, set up in the sub district hospital in Ponda in north Goa, from Sunday itself.

Record 700,000 Covid-19 tests conducted in a day; recovery rate rises to 68.78%: Health Ministry

Scaling up testing capacity, over seven lakh samples have been examined for COVID-19 in a day taking the cumulative tests conducted so far to 2,41,06,535, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.
 
The number of recoveries too has surged to 14,80,884 with 53,879 coronavirus patients having recuperated and discharged in 24-hours, the highest in a day so far, pushing the recovery rate to 68.78 per cent. The fatality rate has further dropped to 2.01 per cent, it said.
 
The ministry said the number of single-day tests has been growing exponentially and India has been testing over six lakh samples daily for several days.

The study led by George Washington University (GW) has been published in the journal - Future Medicine. These findings will help physicians better predict outcomes for COVID-19 patients in the US.

Uttar Pradesh reports 4,571 new Covid-19 cases, 41 more fatalities

Uttar Pradesh reported 4,571 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total in the state to 1,22,609 as 41 more fatalities pushed the the death toll due to the disease to 2,069.
 
The count of active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 47,890, and 72,650 patients have been discharged after recovering from the disease, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical and Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said.
 
"The case fatality rate, which was at three per cent till last month, has now further dipped to 1.68 per cent," Prasad said. The number of COVID-19 cases stood at 1,18,038 on Saturday, while the death toll was at 2,028.

1,300 fresh cases take Delhi's Covid-19 tally to 145,427; death toll mounts to 4,111

With 1,300 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, Delhi's COVID-19 tally rose to over 1.45 lakh while the death toll due to the disease mounted to 4,111, authorities said on Sunday. Thirteen fresh fatalities were recorded in the city in the last 24 hours, they added. A total of 5,702 RT-PCR and 18,085 rapid-antigen tests were conducted in the said period, the authorities said.
 
The total number of cases in the national capital stands at 1,45,427. As many as 1,30,587 patients have either recovered from the disease or migrated while there are 10,729 active cases, of which 5,462 are in home isolation, the authorities said. The number of containment zones stands at 472 in Delhi.

Quickly process claims under insurance scheme for Covid-19 health workers: Centre to states

The Centre has asked states and Union Territories to quickly process claims under the Rs 50-lakh insurance scheme for frontline healthcare workers engaged in COVID-19 duties as the cover is available till September.
 
In a letter to the states and UTs, Union Health Ministry Secretary Rajesh Bhushan asked them to accord top priority to the security and well-being of healthcare providers, medical staff and frontline workers. He also told them to initiate deterrent action against the perpetrators of violence against frontline COVID-19 workers under the Epidemic Disease (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.
 
"In the last six months, the central government and states have tackled COVID-19 pandemic and have gained valuable experience. "One of the important learnings has been the critical importance of securing and safeguarding our frontline healthcare workers," Bhushan said in his letter.

Coronavirus LIVE update: Jharkhand to get its second plasma therapy centre in Dhanbad

The second plasma therapy centre in Jharkhand will be set up at the state-run Patliputra Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in Dhanbad, an official said on Sunday.
 
Chief Minister Hemant Soren had inaugurated the state's first plasma therapy facility at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Ranchi on July 28.
