Theatre workers in Assam have urged Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to extend financial assistance to people engaged in the profession as they are facing hardship in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. A delegation of Professional Theatre Workers, Assam has submitted a memorandum to the chief minister on Saturday, seeking his intervention for providing support to them. The coronavirus pandemic has been unsparing to the community and has cast a shadow on the careers of many theatre artistes and workers, making sustenance difficult, a member of the delegation said.

India may be moving away from Covid-19 exponential rise: Niti Aayog member
Currently, India is experiencing the worst phase in its fight against Covid-19 with a total of 64,399 new coronavirus cases getting reported in the last 24 hours, taking the overall caseload to 21,53,011, while the death toll mounting to 43,379 with 861 fresh fatalities. But there may be a silver lining, as V.K. Paul, Member of Niti Aayog, said that the last five-day daily cases data indicate that India may be moving away from exponential rise. Speaking at a webinar organised by the India International Centre on the topic towards a holistic long term medi-care system -- the case of Covid-19 -- Paul, citing the day wise daily new cases data, said, "If we look at the five-day moving average, we could see some kind of stabilization; I do not know whether it is true or random, that only time will tell. May be, there is something out there, which is indicating that we may have moved away from exponential rise and we may be stabilising. But that only time will tell."
68 fresh cases take Arunachal's COVID-19 tally to 2,117
At least 68 more people, including 36 security personnel and a healthcare professional, have tested positive for coronavirus in Arunachal Pradesh, taking the state's total count to 2,117, a Health Department official said on Sunday. Of the fresh cases, 10 were reported from the Capital Complex region, 20 from East Kameng district, 12 from West Siang, five each from Tirap and Lower Siang, four each from West Kameng and Namsai, three each from East Siang and Tawang, two from Papumpare and one from Changlang, State Surveillance Officer Dr L Jampa said. "Thirty-six security personnel of paramilitary forces are among the fresh patients. A healthcare worker from West Kameng district has tested positive for COVID-19," he said.
Covid-19 norms, social distancing being followed during UP B.Ed exams today
The entrance examination for Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is being conducted in various districts of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Social distancing and other COVID-19 norms are being followed during the conduct of the exams. The temperatures of the examinees are being checked and their hands are being sanitised before being allowed to enter the centre. The examinees are allowed to travel with their admit cards during the weekend lockdown in the state. In Prayagraj, the district administration allowed hotels, restaurants, sweet shops, fruits shops and general stores to remain open on Sunday in view of the B.Ed entrance exams.
Haryana prepares database for job preference on unemployed youth
In a recently launched initiative backed by Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, state government officials have been asked to prepare a database on unemployed youth regarding their preference of job in both government and private sector. Being the minister for Employment Department, Chautala had instructed the senior officials of the department to gather the data of unemployed youth searching for employment and from all over the state on the basis of their qualifications and choice, according to a statement. The work on this scheme is underway at the call centre situated at Rozgar Bhawan in Panchkula.
