HP: COVID-19 death toll rises to 14, total cases stand at 3,265

The COVID-19 death toll in Himachal Pradesh rose to 14 after a 74-year-old man from Hamirpur district succumbed to the disease on Saturday night, an official said. The state also recorded 114 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the infection tally to 3,265, he said. Meanwhile, Power Minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary was on Saturday shifted from Deen Dayal Upadhaya (DDU) hospital to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) as he was facing respiratory problems, the official said.

789 Covid cases take Haryana's tally to 40,843; Kaithal reports 1st death

Haryana's tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 40,843 on Saturday with 789 fresh instances of the viral infection reported in 24 hours, while seven new fatalities pushed death toll to 474, according to the state health department's daily bulletin. Kaithal district for the first time on Saturday reported COVID-19 deaths. Two persons died of the viral infection in the district. Telangana govt will allow Ganesh festival after discussing Covid situation

Telangana Minister Talsani Srinivas Yadav has said that the state government is ready to hold the Ganesh festival this year after discussing and taking views of the concerned officials over COVID-19 situation in the state. On Saturday, a meeting held at the Marri Chennareddy Human Resource Development Centre (MCHRD) regarding the organisation of Ganesh celebrations was chaired by Yadav, the Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairy and Cinematography. "The government is ready to hold the Ganesh festival this year after discussing with concerned officials over coronavirus. I urge everyone to co-operate with the decisions taken by the government to contain coronavirus spread," he said.

India's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 68.32%

India's patients recovering from COVID-19 cross the 14.2 lakh mark, taking the recovery rate across the country to 68.32 per cent, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday. "There has been a sharp increase in Covid-19 recoveries. With 48,900 patients discharged in the last 24 hours, India's total recoveries from COVID-19 has reached 14,27,005. The recovery rate, on a steady upward rise, stands at 68.32 per cent," read a statement from the Union Health Ministry. The Ministry further informed that the case fatality rate (CFR) in the country stands at 2.04 per cent.

AP's Covid-19 death toll reaches 1,939

The Covid-19 death toll in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday reached 1,939 after 97 more people succumbed to the disease, the highest so far in a single day, according to health officials. Guntur recorded the maximum 14 deaths, followed by Anantapur 11, Kurnool 10, West Godavari 10, Chittoor 8, Nellore 8, Prakasam 7, Srikakulam 7, East Godavari 6, Visakhapatnam 5, Vizianagaram 5, Krishna 4, and Kadapa 2. Even as a slight dip was noticed over the previous day, the Covid tally on Saturday remained above 10,000 in line with trends of the past five days. But compared to the 10,171 cases on Friday, Andhra Pradesh reported a slightly lower figure of 10,080 cases on Saturday morning, officials said.

Israel reports 1,333 new Covid-19 cases; 82,324 in total

Israel's Ministry of Health has reported 1,333 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, bringing the total number to 82,324. According to the ministry, the death toll reached 593 with 12 new fatalities, while the number of patients in serious condition rose from 369 to 388, out of 807 patients currently hospitalised, Xinhua reported. The number of recoveries reached 57,071, with 1,758 new ones, while the number of active cases dropped to 24,658.

Covid-19 deaths in Chile top 10,000

The Chilean Ministry of Health reported on Saturday that 53 more deaths from Covid-19 were registered in the past 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 10,011. According to the ministry's daily report, 2,201 new cases were reported in the same period, taking the total caseload to 371,023, Xinhua reported. Of the new cases, 1,511 presented symptoms and 604 were asymptomatic.

Coronavirus toll crosses 2000 in West Bengal

The coronavirus toll in West Bengal crossed 2,000 Saturday and its caseload the 90,000 mark, according to a bulletin of the state health department. The number of active cases in the state crossed the 25,000 mark, the bulletin said. The toll reached 2,005 after 51 people succumbed to the disease during the day and the tally touched 92,615 after 2,949 people tested positive for the disease during the day, it said. The number of recoveries was 65,124 people, the bulletin said.
