With over 1.6 mn vaccinations, MP tops India's vaccination chart on June 21

Madhya Pradesh on Monday administered 16,73,858 Covid-19 vaccine doses, the highest ever among states in the country in a single day so far.
 
As the new phase of universalisation of Covid-19 vaccination commenced from Monday, in a landmark achievement, 80,95,314 doses have been administered on the first day of the new phase of Covid-19 Vaccination. This is the highest single-day number of jabs in the world.
 
According to a statement issued by the Madhya Pradesh government, a total of 3,75,962 vaccine doses were administered in the Bhopal division which includes 8 districts - Betul, Bhopal, Harda, Hoshangabad, Raisen, Rajgarh, Sehore and Vidisha on Monday, as part of state's 'Vaccination Mahaabhiyan' campaign that coincided with the International Day of Yoga. Andaman & Nicobar Islands report more Covid-19 recoveries than fresh cases

Andaman and Nicobar Islands reported more Covid-19 recoveries than fresh cases as 14 people recuperated from the disease while nine new cases pushed the coronavirus tally in the union territory to 7,415, a health department official said on Tuesday.
 
Three new cases were detected during contact tracing while six were airport arrivals, he said.
 
Passengers arriving by flight have to undergo mandatory RT-PCR test before they are allowed entry into the islands.
 
The total number of Covid-19 recoveries in the union territory rose to 7,191 as 14 more people recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, the official said. Read on...

Positive virus case disrupts Scotland, England at Euro 2020

A coronavirus infection created disruption for two teams at the European Championship after a positive test for Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour also led to two England players having to self-isolate.
 
Midfielder Mason Mount and left back Ben Chilwell were deemed by English health authorities to have had interaction" with Gilmour during England's 0-0 draw with Scotland at Wembley Stadium on Friday. The three players are teammates at Chelsea.
 
The announcement came ahead of the final Group D games, with England hosting the Czech Republic, and Scotland playing Croatia with qualification for the round of 16 still up for grabs.
 
All England players came back with negative PCR tests on Sunday and lateral flow tests on Monday. While Mount started for England against Scotland, Chilwell was an unused substitute.

Not a single case of Covid-19 detected, North Korea tells WHO

North Korea has told the World Health Organisation it tested more than 30,000 people for the coronavirus through June 10 but has yet to find a single infection.
 
The WHO said in a monitoring report Tuesday that North Korea's testing figures included 733 people who were tested during June 4-10, of which 149 were with influenza-like illnesses or severe respiratory infections.
 
Experts widely doubt North Korea's claim that it has not had a single case of the virus, given its poor health infrastructure and porous border with China, its major ally and economic lifeline. Read on...
