The state chapter of Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India (Credai) will conduct a survey on the housing needs of the people in the state to understand the buyers' need.

"The survey will be conducted offline among the visitors during the Credai property expo from November 14 to 17. Then the survey will be done online on the association's website," said D S Tripathy, Joint secretary, Credai.

The survey will guide the builders and developers to understand the customers need, so that the developers can strategise to meet the customer's expectations and demand by bringing in better products, he added.

During the expo, Credai expects around 5,000 footfalls. As many as 35 developers will showcase about 100 projects, starting from Rs 15 lakh per unit to a maximum of Rs one crore, during the three day event. Apart from developers, loan providers like State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, LIC Housing Finance Ltd, Axis Bank, Reliance Home Finance Ltd along with housing and life style product companies will also showcase their products.

Tripathy said, the mining scam and the chit scam had a negative impact on the real estate sector.

The growth of real estate sector has almost stagnated after the crackdown on the erring miners and the chit fund companies.

The presence of chit fund companies in the sector had led to sky rocketing of the land prices in and around the city, he added.

State Bank of India (SBI) Deputy General Manager, Arup Dasgupta said, after the coronation of the new government at the Centre, the economy is rebounding. Better projects are coming up in the state and the real estate sector is getting a boost, he added.
