The National Crime Records Bureau's (NCRB) 2014 data indicate that very few cases are being registered for cognisable crimes under the special and local laws (SLL). The data show that either the number of incidences of violations under such acts is zero or it is negligible.

As the table shows, zero incidences were reported under both: The Commission of Sati Prevention Act and The Manual Scavengers Act. Similarly, almost zero violations seem to have been committed anywhere in the country under the Transplantations of Human Organs Act, Air (prevention and control of pollution) Act, and the Water (prevention and control of pollution) Act.

In other laws such as Environment Protection Act and the Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques Act, a few states dominate the data. For instance, of the 101 incidences reported under the Environment Protection Act, 76 were reported from Maharashtra and Rajasthan alone. Most of the other states showed zero incidence. The 25 incidences reported under the PNDT Act, 21 were reported from Haryana alone.
