BJP president Amit Shah, who was supposed to address rallies ahead of the May 6 polling for three Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, will not campaign in the state due to the cyclonic storm Fani which has slammed the coast of neighbouring Odisha.

Cyclone Fani weakens, says IMD

The "Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm" Fani that made landfall at Puri on Friday morning with a wind speed of around 245 kmph has weakened into a "Very Severe Cyclonic Storm" with a wind speed of approximately 150-160 kmph. IOC ensures uninterrupted fuel supply in Odisha, West Bengal

According to news agency PTI, the Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the country's biggest fuel retailer, said it has made arrangements to ensure uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel, LPG and jet fuel in Odisha and West Bengal that faced a category-4 cyclone. Rain lashes Bengal as Fani stings Odisha

As the severe cyclonic storm Fani made landfall in neighbouring Odisha, heavy rainfall lashed Kolkata and Gangetic West Bengal on Friday.
 
The extremely severe cyclonic storm made landfall alittle after 10 a.m. It was located over 400 km southwest of Kolkata and over 350 km, southwest of the East Midnapore district sea resort Digha. Read more

No flights to and from Kolkata airport between 3 pm to 8 am

According to news agency PTI, no flights will depart or arrive at Kolkata airport from 3 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday in view of the cyclonic storm 'Fani', which slammed into the Odisha coast in the morning, Indian aviation regulator DGCA said.
