Cyclone Vardah: Tamil Nadu allocates Rs 500 cr to take up rehabilitation work

Asks Centre to sanction Rs 1,000 cr

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam today announced Rs 500 crore to carry out rehabilitation works in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts that were affected due to Cyclone Vardah.

He said that of the total amount, Rs 350 crore will be given to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Rs 75 crore to Chennai Corporation, Rs 10 crore for fishermen relief fund, Rs 25 crore to development of roads.

Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts will get Rs 10 crore each, Rs 7 crore to carry out works on government offices, Rs 3 crore to Health Department, Rs 50 lakh for milk production units, Rs 5 crore for police to put the traffic signals in pace.

 

The balance money will be to take works at Vandalur Zoo and in other parks and for transporation department, said the Chief Minister in a statement.
