DATA STORY: India administers over 5 mn doses; caseload tops 30 mn-mark

India has so far administered 294,639,511 vaccine doses. That is 981.19 per cent of its total caseload, and 21.14 per cent of its population

India on Wednesday reported a net reduction of 19,327 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 643,194. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 5.67 per cent (one in 17). The country is second among the most affected countries by active cases. On Tuesday, it added 50,848 cases to take its total caseload to 30,028,709 from 29,977,861 — an increase of 0.2%. And, with 1,358 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 390,660, or 1.30 per cent of total confirmed infections.
