DATA STORY: India reports 15,823 cases; tally crosses 34-million mark

India on Wednesday reported a net reduction of 7,247 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 207,653. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 1.17 per cent (one in 85). The country is ninth among the most affected countries by active cases. On Tuesday, it added 15,823 cases to take its total caseload to 34,001,743 from 33,985,920 — an increase of 0.1%. And, with 226 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 451,189, or 1.33 per cent of total confirmed infections.
