India on Saturday reported a net reduction of 80,745 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 1,555,248. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 11.70 per cent (one in 8). The country is second among the most affected countries by active cases. On Saturday, it added 120,529 cases to take its total caseload to 28,694,879. And, with 3,380 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 344,082, or 1.20 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 3,650,080 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on Saturday, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 227,860,317.
