DATA STORY: India's Covid tally sees first daily rise of under 200,000 in 40 days

India has so far administered 198,538,999 vaccine doses. That is 762.67 per cent of its total caseload, and 14.26 per cent of its population

India on Tuesday reported a net reduction of 133,934 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 2,586,782. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 17.13 per cent (one in 5). The country is second among the most affected countries by active cases. On Tuesday, it added 196,427 cases to take its total caseload to 26,948,874. And, with 3,511 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 307,231, or 1.14 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 2,430,236 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on Monday, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 198,538,999.
