Noting that daughters can be the most effective instrument of change in a society, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat said all steps are being taken by the state government to make education conveniently available to them.

Distributing computer tablets among high school and intermediate board top scorers at the district and block level among girls here last night, Rawat said, "Our daughters will be the vehicle of change in Uttarakhand. I am sure the more facilities we provide them, the better will be their performance."

All steps are being taken to ensure that our daughters get the best educational facilities and make the most of opportunities coming their way, Rawat said.

Highlighting efforts being made by the state government to make technological education a little more girl-oriented, the Chief Minister said all women ITI, polytechnic and nursing institutes are being conceived to help girls develop proper skills and get employment.

"Computer tablets being given away to meritorious girls today are a symbolic gift to them so that they make optimum use of the available technology for their benefit in terms of academic excellence and a good career," Rawat said.

A total of 314 top-scoring girls at the highschool and intermediate board levels got the computer tablets, with state education minister Mantri Prasad Naithani welcoming it as a great initiative which will incentivise education among girls.
