Delhi riots: CRPF personnel donate blood at GTB Hospital
Nearly three dozen CRPF personnel have donated blood at the GTB Hospital here to supplement its bank in view of the injured in the Delhi communal clashes being admitted to the facility, officials said. They said a contingent of 50 personnel of the paramilitary were sent to the hospital on Tuesday, of whom 34 donated blood while the rest were asked to remain on standby. "The donation was made in order to supplement the blood bank of the GTB Hospital where fatal and non-fatal casualties of the Delhi riots were being admitted since Monday," a senior official of the force said.

India slams OIC statement over Delhi violence, says it's inaccurate, misleading
India on Thursday hit out at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for its statement on Delhi violence, saying the comments are factually inaccurate and misleading. Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar also urged bodies like the OIC not to make irresponsible statements at this sensitive time. "The statements which have come out of OIC are factually inaccurate, they are selective, they are misleading. There is an effort on the ground, to restore normalcy, to create confidence," Kumar said.

Situation in Delhi ''becoming normal'' to a good extent: Rajnath Singh
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said the situation in violence-hit Delhi was returning to normal. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited here, Singh said, "The situation in Delhi is becoming normal to a good extent." He was responding to a query on the increasing toll in the riots in the national capital following the protests against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act.

Senior AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Gopal Rai on Thursday said the party's stand on violence remains clear that strictest punishment must be given to anyone associated with spreading it. Their reaction came after family of an Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer, who was found dead in a drain near his home in northeast Delhi's riot-hit Chand Bagh area, accused AAP councillor Tahir Hussain of being behind the killing.

Mayawati wants SC-supervised probe into Delhi violence
BSP chief Mayawati on Thursday demanded a Supreme Court-supervised probe into the communal violence in parts of northeast Delhi and said that the Centre and the AAP government should pitch in together to compensate people for the loss suffered in the riots. The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said police should be given a free hand to control the law and order situation in the national capital. In a statement, she said the recent violence in northeast Delhi was much like the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. "It is very sad and condemnable," the statement said quoting Mayawati.

Broken desks, burnt books, half-charred boards tell sordid tale
"Welcome to a very happy school" reads a half-charred board at a private school in Brijpuri area of North East Delhi which is now home to broken desks and burnt books after it was vandalised during the violence. Arun Modern Senior Secondary School, which is over 32 years old, looks no less than a cemetery, say officials, who claim the damage is estimated to be over Rs 70 lakh. "While I am yet to recover from what has happened at the school, my biggest relief is that children were not in the premises when this happened. I do not even want to imagine what would have happened if that was the case," school principal Jyoti Rani told PTI. READ MORE HERE

DCW visits affected areas in northeast Delhi
The Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal visited the riot affected areas in North East Delhi and interacted with hundreds of women and girls.
DCW Chief Swati Maliwal said, “This has been one of the most painful days for me and my entire team. So much loss of life, limb and property. Women and girls are feeling very scared and destroyed. DCW shall keep visiting the riot affected areas and create a detailed fact finding report that shall be submitted to Delhi and Central Government. We seek urgent action against all those people who instigated violence.”

Delhi govt announces compensation for affected people
Delhi government to give Rs 10 lakh to families of those killed in riots, Rs 2 lakh to those seriously injured. The government will set up special camps for people to get documents burnt during arson, violence. Speaking on Tahir Hussain's alleged involvement in the riots, Kejriwal said, "No rioter from whichever party they belong should be spared. If those involved in riots are found to be from AAP, double punishment should be given."

Delhi govt announces rehabilitation schemes for affected people
Delhi government headed by CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced rehabilitation programmes for those affected in the violence. The CM had earlier announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore for head constable ratan Lal who died in the violence. The government will provide free treatment to injured people in government hospitals and those who are being trated in private hospitals will be covered unde faristay scheme.

Relatives wait outside mortuary for bodies to be handed over
Still to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones in violence in parts of northeast Delhi, relatives are anxiously waiting outside GTB hospital's mortuary for the postmortem to be conducted before the bodies are handed over to them. Family members of people, who are missing since the violence broke out, also have been asking hospital authorities to check whether were brought dead or are being treated.

BJP attacks Congress for ínstigating' violence in Delhi
Attacking the Congress, BJP said that attempts to instigate violence were made for two months, Sonia Gandhi gave call for "fight to the finish" at rally in December. "BJP is working to restore peace and we condemn Congress, AAP for doing politics over violence. Peace has been restored in two days, probe speeded up and arrests made,"BJP's Prakash javadekar said.

Never saw such violence, not even in '84 or '92: Northeast Delhi resident
The communal clashes in northeast Delhi were nothing like what septuagenarian Haseeb Ahmed, who has witnessed the 1984 and 1992 violence, had seen in his life.
Ahmed, who worked as a furniture worker and has now been retired for almost 10 years, is settled at Maujpur area, one of the main pockets where rioters ran amok after clashes between citizenship law supporters and protesters on Sunday.
"I came to live here in 1981. It's been 39 years and there have been incidents in 1984, 1992, but nothing had happened here," the 70-year-old man said. "But this is the first time that I have seen people from outside coming here, attacking homes and people, and vandalising and setting properties on fire."
