The Akhila Bharatha Tulu Okkoota has demanded that Mangaluru International Airport be renamed as ‘Tulunadu International Airport’.
The demand was made at the valedictory function of ‘Vishwa Tuluvere Parba 2014’ held in association with Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy at Sahyadri Campus in Adyar here last evening.
They also requested the state government to set up a high level committee headed by chief secretary to make an appropriate decision on the inclusion of Tulu in Schedule VIII of Indian Constitution. Various other resolutions taken at the function included revoking ban on Kambala and introduction of Tulu as third language in the curriculum of schools in Undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
In the absence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, organisers of Tuluvere Parba handed over the resolution with demands to minister for forest, environment and ecology B Ramanath Rai. Earlier the valedictory ceremony showcased the essence and beauty of Tulu culture and tradition.
