Delhi Police is doing whatever necessary in connection with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's security as it is aware of the threat perception to him and also his stand of not taking a security cover, Commissioner B S Bassi today said.
Replying to a question on the veracity of reports suggesting that almost ten-fold expense is being made on Kejriwal's security after he declined to take a formal security cover, he said, "I can claim privilege over security and may not say much about the security aspect."
Talking to reporters at Delhi Police's annual press conference, he said, "Under security, there are many aspects, security agency, threat perceptions and the person who requires security. We have information about the threat perception. We have the information about what police have to do and we are aware of what the person (Kejriwal) has demanded. Keeping in mind on these points, we are doing whatever is required."

"We don't do anything unnecessarily in the police department. We call it optimisation. It will be wrong to speculate in the matter. Whatever is required in this regard is being done and will be continued," Bassi said.
Asked whether Delhi Police's equation with Aam Aadmi Party will now change as it has been at loggerheads with the force in the past over various issues before coming to power, he said, "One has to keep in mind that a police personnel is also a law and order enforcement officer... When it comes to doing our duty we do not differentiate among people."
Every person has some rights and until he or she doesn't cross the rules or disturbs the law and order we will not disturb him, he said.
