Six farmer leaders in Sambhal district have been issued notices, asking them to furnish personal bonds of Rs 50 lakh in view of the apprehension that their actions may lead to breach of peace. The six farmers, who were served notices, include Bharatiya Kisan Union (asli) district president Rajpal Singh Yadav and farmer leaders Jaiveer Singh, Brahmachari Yadav, Satyendra, Rohdas and Veer Singh.
However, two days after the notices were served , Circle Officer Arun Kumar Singh, said that the amount was a 'clerical error' and will be reduced.
"The SDM is currently on leave and once he comes back we will correct the error and make it a bond of Rs 50,000 since the earlier one was a clerical error," he said.
The notice issued by Sambhal SDM Deependra Yadav stated, "In the context of what is happening in Delhi and other farmer agitations, six persons are going from village to village and inciting the farmers with false information, which can lead to the breakdown of peace in the region.

BJP MLA Surendra Singh has described the farmers' protest against three farm laws as a "sponsored sit-in of anti-national forces" and claimed that the movement has foreign funding. He alleged that the foreign forces were fuelling the farmers' protest in the same way they were supporting the movement in Shaheen Bagh during anti-CAA protests.
"After seeing the farmers' movement, it appears that this is a sponsored agitation by anti-national forces and has foreign funding," Singh, a BJP MLA from Bairia constituency, claimed. "Foreign forces want to destabilise the country under the guise of this movement," he told reporters on Thursday night.
Singh is known for making controversial remarks. He alleged that when a person from the Sikh community in Britain protests against the farm laws, it means "those who are leading the movement are Khalistanis". "Only people with the Khalistani mindset are taking part in the movement," the BJP MLA claimed.

A large number of farmers will attend the "Mahasammelan" in Madhya Pradesh on Friday which will be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing at 2. Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Thursday held a meeting with Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal and Narendra Singh Tomar to discuss the ongoing farmers' agitation. The meeting was held at the BJP head office here and was also attended by the party's general secretaries CT Ravi, Dushyant Gautam and Arun Singh among others. It lasted for more than an hour. According to sources, during the meeting Shah reviewed the BJP's outreach programme through press conferences and ‘chaupals' or open meetings across all districts of the country to allay fears on the new farm laws. Since the large-scale farmers' agitation began a few weeks ago, the BJP has been organising press conferences and 'chaupals' in all the districts of the country on the new agriculture-related bills passed recently by the Central government.

Amid the ongoing farmers' protests against farm laws and minimum support price (MSP) for agricultural produce, a farmer in Shamli's Mayapuri village destroyed his standing crop of cauliflowers, claiming that he was being forced to sell his produce at Rs 1 kilogram -- much below the cost price. "I am not able to sell cauliflowers. I am only getting Rs 1 per kilogram. I have cauliflower on 5 bigha land. Its worth is Rs 1 lakh," Ramesh, the farmer told ANI. He further said the new farm laws will harm the interests of farmers and extended his support to their protests. District Magistrate Jasjit Kaur said that Horticulture officials and sub-divisional magistrate have been instructed to meet the farmer.

"Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has expressed his feelings by writing a letter to the farmer brothers and sisters, attempting to have a polite dialogue. I request all the farmers to read it. The countrymen are also urged that they should extend it to as many people as possible," PM Modi had tweeted.
