As many as five persons went missing since yesterday in Tamas river of Rewa town. Army has been called for rescue operations and search is going on for missing persons. According to reports reaching here, they swept away in the swollen river near Purva waterfall where they were near the river. Normal life has crippled in various parts of the state in districts of Rewa, Panna, Damoh, Sartna, Sidhi, Raisen, Hoshangabad and Jabalpur. Unconfirmed reports reaching here said two persons swept away in Rehti of Sehore. Narmada, Chambal, Tamas, Ken and Tawa river are flooded due to heavy rains in the state.  
 
“All five youth are yet missing and search is going on,” Rewa district collector Rahul Jain said.

Three other people, however, were rescued by Indian Army and Indian Air Force helicopters from a tree where they had taken refuge from the flood in Tamas river. Four other people were rescued by local authorities.

Districts of Rewa, Satna, Sagar, Damoh,  Raisen, Hoshangabad, Jabalpur, in next 24 hours. Following state government orders, the district administrations of Rewa, Satna, Jabalpur, Hoshangabad have put all schools closed for two-days.

Food, medicines and other necessities have been supplied to a village named Sariatola which has been surrounded by a flooding river. According to Satna Collector Naresh pal, the district administration has made necessary arrangements for the people, as many as 1000-1200 people are staying in camps. 

Satna and Rewa, according to Bhopal weathermen, have received more than 250 mm of rains in few years.  Bhopal, Vidisha, Narsinghpur and Betul are also likely to receive heavy rains in coming 24-48 hours, the weathermen said.
