Five things to know about FCRA

* The FCRA was enacted to put in place a system which ensured that foreign contributions to India were not diverted to anti-national activities. The Act comes under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

* During 2010-11, over 22,000 associations received Rs 10,000 crore as foreign contributions. Among states, the highest contribution was received in Delhi. In 2010-11, Delhi alone received over Rs 2,000 crore, followed by Tamil Nadu (Rs 1,550 crore) and Andhra Pradesh (Rs 1,170 crore).

* The highest donations come from US, followed by UK and Germany.

* Among the organisations, the highest was received by World Vision of India, Chennai; followed by Believers Church India, Kerala; and Rural Development Trust, Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh.
 
* The highest contribution was utilised for Establishment Expenses, followed by Rural Development, and Welfare for Children.
