The mortal remains of former Member of Parliament Uttam Nathuji Dhikale were today consigned to flames at Amardham crematorium here.

The 77-year-old leader, died yesterday at a private hospital here following a heart attack.

His sons - Rahul, Sunil and Shekhar - lit the pyre.

Nashik Mayor Ashok Murtadak and Deputy Mayor Gurumit Bagga were present at the funeral.

Last night, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray paid tributes to the departed leader by laying a wreath.

Dhikale contested Lok Sabha election in 1999 on Shiv Sena ticket from Nashik constituency and got elected. In 2009, he successfully fought Assembly election on MNS ticket from Nashik-East segment.
