Fresh batch of 142 pilgrims leaves for Amarnath

A fresh batch of 142 pilgrims left for the twin base camps of Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas amidst tight security.

The batch comprising 93 men, 14 women and 35 sadhus left in four vehicles from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for Pahalgam and Baltal in Kashmir this morning, a police officer said.

With 391 pilgrims reaching the shrine on Monday, over 2,18,319 pilgrims have so far paid obeisance at the cave shrine of Amarnath since the yatra started on July 1.

The yatra will conclude on August 18.
