The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Wednesday announced that it would provide 100 yard plots to landless and homeless families in rural areas of the state, if the party was voted to power during the assembly elections to be held in December this year.

"If the Congress party is voted to power in the coming elections it will allot 100 yard plots to homeless families in rural Gujarat," the Congress leader announced. He further said that they would also make arrangement for loan upto one lakh for the families to construct homes upto 30 sq mt area. This they would do through tie ups with various banks. The Congress also promised that the loans to these families would be subsidized by 50 per cent by the government.
Earlier, the Congress had promised reduction in value added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel, proper implementation of six pay commission for government employees and 'Own dream Home' scheme for the urban poor.
The 'own dream home' scheme got a tremendous response from the women in the state who had queued up for long hours to obtain the forms. According to Congress over 30 lakh forms have been distributed across the eight municipal corporations and 159 municipalities in the state.
