The Telangana tourism department, in association with the departments of IT, ITeS and industries, launched ‘Happening Hyderabad’ campaign to resurrect the image of ‘Brand Hyderabad’ through a series of events.
Speaking on the occasion, Information Technology & Panchayat Raj minister, Rama Rao, said the campaign was designed to draw the glitterati from all over the globe so as to transform the face of Hyderabad as a happening destination.
“With the departments of IT and tourism we are creating an event-a-week concept for 52 weeks. This will create the milieu of a culturally vibrant city. We will host events related to arts, culture, sports, hobby and entrepreneurship etc. We want to make this a mass movement with the participation of people. If Hyderabad is to be a global city, it has to be with a judicious blend of culture and sports”, he said.

Planning and tourism principal secretary, BP Acharya, said this was an initiative to showcase Hyderabad as a global city and provide a platform for quality entertainment to the residents and visitors. “Through this initiative, we will create maximum visibility and outreach for the events and support the event industry of Hyderabad,” he added.
The launch was followed by the unveiling of Happening Hyderabad logo, launch of web portal with annual events calendar and mobile application. City’s eminent personalities from the field of sports, arts and culture and theatre were present on the occasion.
