HC asks WB govt to file ATR in Abhishek slap case

Acting on the petition, Justice Pal directed the state government to file an affidavit by March 22, stating the action taken by the state

The Calcutta High Court today directed the West Bengal government to file a report on action taken against the persons who beat up a youth for slapping Trinamool Congress youth-wing Chief Abhishek Banerjee. Banerjee, nephew of state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and also an MP, was slapped by a youth as he was addressing a public meeting at Chandipur in East Midnapore district on January five. The youth was then beaten up by some people. A petition in this regard was moved before the court of Justice Soumitra Pal today seeking proper investigation and punishment to those involved in beating up the youth, Debasish Acharya.
 
Acting on the petition, Justice Pal directed the state government to file an affidavit by March 22, stating the action taken by the state.
