In view of intermittent rains in Telangana, the state government today directed district collectors, agricultural officials and scientists to take necessary steps to avoid any hardships to farmers during the kharif season.
Addressing a video conference with district collectors from the secretariat here, chief secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma instructed them to closely monitor the crop conditions and assess the village-wise situation to facilitate and guide the farmers.
He said all steps be taken to publicise awareness among the farmers on crop insurance scheme and also review the status on the crop loans with the district bankers.

"District officials should also prepare the contingency plans in the event of continuance of dry spell in any particular region of the state," Sharma said.
Speaking on the occasion, C Parthasarathi, commissioner and principal secretary - agriculture, asked the district authorities to remain alert throughout the kharif season.
Reviewing the status of supply of agricultural inputs and fertilisers, he stated sufficient stocks of seeds and fertilisers are available in case of any contingent plan.
He also directed the teams of agriculture officials and scientists to be well-prepared and also gather accurate information on rainfall and crop conditions for benefit of the farmers.
