High level Central technical team to visit Cauvery delta region today

A high level central technical team led by Central Water Commission Chairman GS Jha will visit delta regions of Tamil Nadu on Monday.

The Commission chairman visit delta regions of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam.

The team on Sunday visited Mettur Dam and Bhavani Sagar Dams.

According to reports, the central team had a discussions with Tiruchirapalli district collector KS Palanisamy and other PWD officials on Sunday night.

Tiruchi farmers had earlier submitted a petition regarding how they have lost Kuruvai and depend only on one crop now.

The delta farmers of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam will urge the central team to release adequate Cauvery water to save their samba crops.
 
The team will visit Kallanai, Cauvery delta tail end regions including Tirupoondi, Sathiakudi, Velankanni.

The central technical team had already visited Cauvery basin dams in Karnataka and Mettur, Bhavani Sagar dams.

The team has collected water storage, inflow, outflow details in dams and will be getting more information about water needs for irrigation.
