HLL Lifecare Limited has teamed up with the Tata Memorial Centre for setting up a women and children cancer hospital at Parel in Mumbai.

An MoU appointing HLL's infrastructure development division as the project management consultant was inked in Mumbai.

The construction of the hospital, estimated to cost Rs 350 crore, is expected to be completed within 30 months. The project will include a hadron beam facility--the first-of-its-kind in India and only the 12th in the world--to offer advanced and highly precise proton therapy for cancer patients. With the use of hadrons, a cancerous tumour can be irradiated with a less damage to the surrounding healthy tissues, when compared with X-rays used in conventional radiation therapy.
