IIE-Guwahati to provide design and marketing inputs to NE artisans

Through this MoA IIE, EPCH and NCDPD will work jointly and pool their resources for betterment of handicraft exporters, manufacturers, artisans in the region

Guwahati-based Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) has tied up with Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and National Centre for Design and Product Development (NCDPD) to provide design inputs and marketing opportunities to entrepreneurs in handicrafts sector of the region.

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed to this affect in New Delhi yesterday and the objective too would be capacity enhancement of handicraft exporters, manufacturers and artisans in Northeastern states.

Through this MoA IIE, EPCH and NCDPD will work jointly and pool their resources for betterment of handicraft exporters, manufacturers, artisans in the region, said a press communique from IIE. "ECPH and NCDPD will place their personnel at IIE's disposal for taking the collaboration forward. This will bring in huge expertise in this field where 6 million people are earning their livelihood in the country," it added.
 
 
With an aim to undertake training, research and consultancy activities in small and micro enterprises focusing on entrepreneurship development, the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) was established in the year 1993 in Guwahati by the erstwhile ministry of industry (now the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises), government of India as an autonomous national institute.

"IIE-Guwahati is focusing on small and micro enterprises development and entrepreneurship development by undertaking the training, research and consultancy activities. It also promotes skill linked micro entrepreneurs," said the press release.

The EPCH is an organization of trade and industry engaged in the promotion of Indian handicrafts from country and project India's image abroad as a reliable supplier of high quality handicrafts items. NCDPD is an organization for design and product development and is fulfil the gaps in the handicraft sector of soft and hard goods in the areas of design and product development and technology. 

The MoA was signed by Manoj K Das, director of IIE, Rakesh Kumar, executive director of EPCH and RK Shrivastava, executive director of NCDPD.
