India-Pakistan match gets social media buzzing

Globally, 9 mn people had 25 mn Facebook interactions related to India's win over Pakistan

Fans watching the India-Pakistan match not only were glued to their television sets but every ball missed, every wicket caught or a fabulous six being hit was getting shared and discussed on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

On the world's largest social networking platform Facebook saw globally nine million fans creating 25 million interactions related to India's win over Pakistan.

In India, 5.9 million people had 16.9 million interactions about the match, while in Pakistan 1.1 million people had 3.3 million interactions.

According to Facebook data, fans weren't the only ones talking about the match on its platform. "The players, teams, and news outlets have also been posting great content. Virat Kohli posted that he was "feeling awesome" and had the "best Sunday ever," while the Indian Cricket Team page posted video of fans going crazy in the stands, and Star Sports posted clip of Virat Kholi slamming the first century for the Indian Cricket team during yesterday's match," said a statement from Facebook India.

 

The micro-blogging website also saw huge action with almost 1,694,510 tweets during the game. The top tweets per minute (TPM) moments were- "India are victorious by 76 runs", "Virat Kohli brings up his century" and "Kohli is dismissed by 107 runs".

On both Facebook and Twitter the most talked about player was Virat Kohli, followed by Sohail Khan.
