Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy will be inaugurating Kochi Infopark Phase-II campus on May 6.

The Rs 2,500-crore Phase-II project is aimed at creating eight million sft of workspace for use by IT/ITeS companies, and would generate around 80,000 job opportunities.

Infopark chief executive officer Hrishikesh Nair said that in the first stage, over a million sft space for the IT sector use would be readied by the end of 2015, which includes Infopark’s own IT building and Cognizant’s Phase-I building.

The Phase-II project, spread across 160 acre, is envisioned as a walk-to-work township project, which includes facilities like hotels, shopping malls, an international school, multiplexes and convention centres. It will also have facilities like eco-friendly green park, water treatment and sewage treatment plant.

Infopark has joined hands with several global IT companies and infrastructure developers, including Cognizant Technologies, UST Global, Trans Asia, Muthoot Group, Media Systems, Claysys Technologies, Caspian Techparks and Padiyath Innovation for the Phase-II development.

Around 60 per cent of the land in the second phase has been leased out to IT/ITeS companies and co-developers, Infopark said.
