Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has relaxed the process of filing and payment of claims for the floods in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry.

It has asked insurers to appoint nodal officers and also quicken the process of accepting the claims and simplify claims settlement. It has also sought details of claims from insurers on a daily basis.

These floods have caused severe damage to life and property.

Insurers including ICICI Prudential Life, Bharti AXA General, PNB Metlife, Max Life Insurance and Life Insurance Corporation of India have simplified their claims processes for the same. Tata AIG General Insurance has also set up a dedicated team for claims settlement.
