Isro's Mars Orbiter sends new set of pictures and they are amazing

Pictures are 3D portrayals of Ophir Chasma terrain

Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro's) Mars Orbiter Mission has sent a new set of pictures. The image taken by Mars Colour Camera over Ophir Chasma was released today.

A canyon in the Coprates quadrangle of Mars at 4°south latitude and 72.5° westlongitude.  

The word chasma has been designated by the International Astronomical Union to refer to an elongate, steep sided depression.

Ophir Chasma is part of the largest canyon system in the solar system known as vallesmarineris. The walls of the chasma contain many layers and the floors contain large deposits of   layered materials, said Isro.

The image was taken on July 19, 2015 at an altitude of 1857 km with a resolution of 96 m.
