Justice Mukta Gupta made permanent Delhi HC judge

Justice Mukta Gupta was today administered oath by Chief Justice G Rohini as a permanent judge of the Delhi High Court after being appointed as an additional judge in 2009.

Justice Gupta, who will turn 53 this June, prior to her elevation to the high court worked as special CBI counsel as well as standing counsel for the Delhi government.

She also had a stint as an additional public prosecutor.

As a CBI counsel, she represented the agency in important cases which included naval war room leak case, Priyadarshini Mattoo murder case and Madhumita Sharma murder case.

As a Delhi government counsel, she appeared in many criminal cases including Parliament and Red Fort shootout cases, Jessica Lal murder case, Naina Sahni murder case and Nitish Katara murder case in the high court and the Supreme Court.
 
She was also a member of Delhi Legal Services Authority and had been associated with issues and programmes for rehabilitation of destitute women, juveniles and prisoners.

Justice Gupta completed her graduation in B.Sc. Zoology (Hons.) from Hindu College, Delhi University in 1980 and, thereafter, pursued LL.B from Campus Law Centre in 1983.

She later got enrolled with the Delhi Bar Council.
