Karnataka delegation in Germany to seek investment

It will also identify new projects for replication in the State of Karnataka

A high-level delegation of the Karnataka government led by chief secretary Kaushik Mukherjee arrived in Germany on Sunday to seek investments from German companies.

It would also identify projects for replication in Karnataka and renew ties between the German state of Bavaria and the state for mutual benefit in industry and trade.

The delegation will be in Germany till May 16, 2015. The delegation is scheduled to meet Indian CEOs based in Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg and also hold  separate round table meetings with German business captains in Munich with the aim to promote investments into Karnataka, the state government said in a statement.
 
 
Other members of the visiting team include Narasimharaju D N, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, K Ratna Prabha, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Department of Industries & Commerce, Gaurav Gupta, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director of Industries and Commerce and Siddalingappa Pujari, Deputy Director, Karnataka Udyog Mitra.

State of Bavaria and Government of Karnataka had signed an MoU in April 2007 to promote bilateral relations between the two regions for co-operation in collaborative projects in the areas of Trade & Investment, ICT, BT, Genetic Engineering, R&D manufacturing, Environmental services, waste management, advance material transport, education and tourism among others.

Several positive developments have taken place so far from the German side like establishing their Consulate and representative office in Bangalore, Fraunhofer representative office in Bangalore, opening of Science centre by BaiIND in Bengaluru, MOU between Manipal University and Bavarian Universities consortium represented by HOF university of applied sciences, etc.  Also, several ministerial / official delegations have travelled from Bavaria to Karnataka in this period. 

Now, to review the progress achieved so far in the fields enumerated in the MOU signed, an invitation was received from the Consul General of India in Munich (Bavaria, Germany) M Sevala Naik to visit Bavaria, Germany and initiate activities that can further strengthen the ties between the two regions. Hence, to reciprocate these initiatives, the delegation from Government of Karnataka is visiting Germany.

In order to take forward the initiatives under the MoU signed between the two regions, other meetings proposed are with Beate Merk, Minister for European Affairs and Regional Relations of Bavaria at Bavarian State Chancellery, Johann, Schachtner, Head, Department of Industry & Internationalisation and Deputy Chief of Administration at Bavarian Ministry of Economy, Media, Energy and Technology, Raoul Klinger, Director of International Business, Fraunhofer- Gesellschaft, Munich and also the Representative of the City of Freiburgto.

Industry visits are planned at Infineon Technologies AG, Industrial Cluster in Stuttgart – Bosch HQ - CP4 Factory in Bosch DS Plant in Stuttgart, Factory tour of Daimler’s passenger car assembly, Solar Powered Football stadium in Freiburg, Eco District Vauban including energy house and heliotrope, Elektrizitätswerke Schönau - Community owned electricity company that produces eco-energy and Habitations in Black Forest, the government statement added.
