Adequate measures would be taken for controlling sea erosion in the coastal areas of Karnataka at the earliest, State Minister for Urban Development, Vinay Kumar Sorake has said.
After visiting the areas affected by sea erosion, he said in Udupi last evening that sea erosion has been a huge problem in the coastal districts every year during the monsoon. For the first time Malpe had been affected and necessary measures taken, he said.
Officials had initiated an action plan for the security of people living in affected areas. Former Union minister and Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes, Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, Deputy Commissioner Muddu Mohan and officials of Fisheries and Port accompanied the Minister.
