Karnataka to hold consultations with experts to hasten irrigation projects

Officials say there are no hurdles for the govt to take up Shivasamudra and Mekedatu power projects in the state

Press Trust of India Bangalore
In a bid to hasten pending irrigation projects in the Krishna and Cauvery river basins, Karnataka government has decided to hold consultations with legal experts next month.

Fali Nariman, Karnataka's counsel in the Supreme Court in the Cauvery case, will be visiting the city on June 2 and hold talks with the government until June 12, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra told reporters here.

Jayachandra said there are no hurdles for the government to take up Shivasamudra and Mekedatu power projects in Karnataka.

"There should not be any problem to take up projects (Cauvery water related) falling in Karnataka side," he said.
