Kerala Chief minister Oommen Chandy on Friday said a meeting of nurses, who had returned from Iraq, would be convened on August 6 in Thiruvananthapuram to know their response to the job offers from hospitals in Kerala and abroad.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of heads of hospitals organised by the Department of Non-Resident Keralites (NORKA) chaired by the chief minister. Of the nurses, who have returned from Iraq, a total of 350 had registered their names with NORKA seeking fresh jobs.
The heads of various hospitals in Kerala have expressed their willingness to provide jobs to those interested to work in Kerala. In the meeting, the representatives of private hospitals in the UAE and Saudi Arabia also gave job assurance to the nurses.
In view of the mandatory licensing examination as required in certain countries, NORKA would get in touch with the agencies involved in providing training for the examination. Steps will be taken to obtain experience certificates of those nurses who could not get them from the hospitals in Iraq. This will be worked out through the Indian embassy.
