Possible bid to attack temple foiled in J-K's Poonch

Security forces detained four suspects and recovered six grenades from them in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, foiling a possible bid to attack a temple, police said on Sunday. Poonch Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramesh Kumar Angral said the success was achieved when Special Operations Group (SOG) of the local police along with troops of the 49 Rashtriya Rifles detained two brothers -- Mustafa Iqbal and Murtaza Iqbal of Galhuta village -- during vehicle checking near Basooni in Mendhar sector at around 8 pm on Saturday. "Their interrogation was conducted at 49 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion headquarters, Basooni," the officer said.

MSMEs, small dealers not to be affected by mandatory 1% cash GST payment rule

Small businesses and dealers will not be impacted by the new government rule of paying at least 1 per cent of GST liability in cash as only entities with annual turnover of Rs 6 crore and above are required to follow the new rule, Finance Ministry sources said.

Six of top-10 most valued firms add Rs 60,198 cr in m-cap

Six of the top 10 most valued Indian firms together added Rs 60,198.67 crore in market valuation last week, with IT majors Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) emerging as the biggest winners. Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), TCS, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), Infosys, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bharti Airtel were the six winners on the top-10 chart.  On the other hand, HDFC Bank, HDFC, ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finance witnessed decline in their market valuation. The market capitalisation of Infosys zoomed by Rs 19,849.41 crore to Rs 5,26,627.07 crore.

EU extends ban on Pakistan national carrier by 3 months

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has extended a ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for three months, despite the Pakistani officials' expectations that ban would be lifted. The EASA on Saturday informed that the PIA that the ban would only be lifted after a safety audit of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Dawn reported. The EASA had in July suspended the authorisation for PIA to operate flights in the EU member states for six months due to safety concerns.

There is nothing alarming in the test reports of superstar Rajinikanth, Apollo Hospital said on Sunday. "All the investigations reports have come in and there is nothing alarming in the reports. The team of doctors will evaluate him this afternoon and take a decision on his discharge," said the latest medical bulletin issued by the hospital. The 70-year-old was admitted to the hospital on Friday with severe fluctuations in blood pressure.
