The new Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister will be sworn in on December 11, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said on Saturday. 

The veteran leader, who is on a maiden visit to his home town of Kalaburagi, after taking over as the AICC chief, urged the Karnataka Congress leaders and workers to work with unity to bring the party to power in the state, which will go to polls by April-May 2023.

Delhi liquor case: Kavitha to face CBI on Sunday

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will question Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's daughter K. Kavitha in Delhi liquor scam case on Sunday. A team of CBI officials will examine the Member of Legislative Council of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (TRS) at her residence in Banjara Hills at 11 am. Ahead of the questioning, hoardings, installed by her supporters, have come up outside her residence. "Daughter of fighter will never fear. We are with Kavithakka," reads one of the hoardings. The CBI had informed Kavitha on December 6 that a team will visit her residence in Hyderabad on December 11 for her examination and recording of her statement in connection with the investigation in the case.

Burkina Faso to raise 150 million euros for war fund

The Burkina Faso government has announced plans to raise 152 million euros for a "fund to support the war" against a bloody jihadist insurgency. Pak court dismisses Imran Khan's plea in six-year-old defamation case

A Pakistani court has dismissed ousted prime minister Imran Khan's petition in a six-year-old USD 61 million defamation case filed against him by incumbent Premier Shehbaz Sharif.

Khan had challenged the Lahore sessions court's decision in the Lahore High Court regarding depriving him from his "right to respond" in the PKR 10 billion defamation case filed against him by Shehbaz Sharif.

On Friday, LHC judge Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal after hearing both sides dismissed Khan's plea and upheld the verdict of the sessions court.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay foundation stone for National Institute for One Health and inaugurate Centre for Research, Management and Control of Haemoglobinopathies in Nagpur on December 11.

These institutes will help expedite the country's efforts in enhancing health research to serve vulnerable populations, a health ministry said in a statement.

With increased interaction between humans and animals domestic and wild and influenced by climate change, human health can no longer be seen in isolation. More than half of all infections that people get can be spread by animals. In this context, the National Institute for One Health is an important infrastructural milestone, the statement said.

Lt Gen Yogendra Dimri, the commanding-in-chief of the Army's Central Command, on Saturday exhorted the passing-out cadets of the Indian Military Academy here to keep abreast of the advancements in technology to be able to deal with the changing dynamics of modern warfare.

He said the dynamics of combat and modern warfare are changing rapidly with the advent of new technologies such as nanotechnology, machine learning, artificial intelligence and virtual reality, and asked the cadets to be prepared to overcome contemporary challenges.
