Though there are always imponderables, including the possibility of a new, transmissible variant and the onset of winter in large parts of the country, a third wave as devastating as the second one is unlikely, they said while advising caution and vigilance, reported PTI on Tuesday.

Nitin Gadkari inaugurates Maruti's vehicle scrapping centre in Noida

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Tsusho Group’s first government-approved scrapping and recycling facility for end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) in Noida today. The facility, spread across 10,993 square metres, is operated by Maruti Suzuki Toyotsu India Private Limited. 
 
The scrappage plant, built with an investment of Rs 44 crore, is in accordance with the Centre's Vehicle Scrappage Policy.

India logged 7,579 new coronavirus infections, the lowest in 543 days, taking the country's total to 34.52 million. The death toll climbed to 4,66,147 with 236 fresh fatalities. Active cases were the lowest in 536 days, said the health ministry on Tuesday.

Pakistan to allow India to send wheat to Afghanistan

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan announced on Monday that his government will allow India to send a humanitarian shipment of 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat to neighbouring Afghanistan through its territory after finalisation of the transit modalities. India, US officials look for ways to resolve trade issues

India and the United States agreed to look for ways to resolve differences on issues such as market access and digital trade at the start of a two-day visit by U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, officials said. Negotiators from both countries have struggled for more than a year to conclude a trade package as New Delhi and Washington spar over a range of issues, including tariffs, Reuters reported.
