Corruption in recruitment has become identity of BJP govt: Priyanka on UPTET paper leak

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday attacked the Yogi Adityanath dispensation over the cancellation of the Uttar Pradesh Teachers Eligibility Test following leakage of its question paper, alleging that corruption in recruitment has become the identity of the BJP government.

The UPTET examination scheduled to be held on Sunday has been cancelled following the leakage of its question paper, Additional Director General Law and Order Prashant Kumar announced shortly before the exam was to begin.

Nearly two million candidates were to appear for the Uttar Pradesh Teachers Eligibility Test (UPTET).

IT Ministry to celebrate 'Azadi Ka Digital Mahotsav' event from Nov 29

The IT ministry will celebrate 'Azadi Ka Digital Mahotsav' from November 29 to December 5, marking a week-long series of events and activities to showcase India's achievements in the digital space and outline road map for future, an official release said on Sunday.

The event would highlight how digital technologies are transforming all sectors of the economy, impacting the socio-cultural, political and economic landscape, and underline the spirit of self-reliance in the digital sector.

The event will be attended by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Electronics and IT, Railways and Communications, and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and IT and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

It will also be attended by senior officials from the Central Ministries and Departments, States and UTs and industry representatives.

Rakesh Tikait demands law to guarantee MSP to farmers

Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait on Sunday demanded that the Centre bring a law to guarantee Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops to protect the interest of farmers in the country.

In Mumbai to participate in the 'kisan mahapanchayat' (farmers' mega conclave) at the Azad Maidan under the Samyukta Shetkari Kamgar Morcha (SSKM) banner, Tikait said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a supporter of the MSP when he was the chief minister of Gujarat and wanted a nationwide law to ensure farmers' interests were guaranteed.

He accused the Modi-led central government of running away from a debate over the issue.

Goan tourism sector on 'wait and watch' amid Omicron scare ahead of Christmas-New Year

Ahead of the world-renowned Christmas-New Year celebrations in Goa, the tourism sector in the state is keenly watching the likely impact of a new coronavirus variant that was detected in southern Africa recently and one which the World Health Organisation has christened 'Omicron' and labeled a 'Variant of Concern', stakeholders said on Sunday.

They said chartered flights and international services bringing in foreign tourists start arriving by the middle of December, heralding what the sector is expecting to be another fruitful season post a robust one during Diwali as the coastal state became the preferred destination for domestic travelers after the COVID-19 pandemic ebbed.

"We are waiting and watching. Till now, at least, there is no impact (of Omicron) but we will have to wait and watch all the developments over the next 15 days. If cases go up, then protocols will have to be adhered to even more strictly," Travel and Tourism Association of Goa president Nilesh Shah told PTI.

I feel proud to be the first Cooperation Minister of the country," the Minister said. "The cooperative sector has not only the potential to give a pace to the nation's economy but also will bring prosperity to the people in the country. And Amul is the biggest example of this."

Farmers should be guaranteed MSP, says AAP's Raghav Chaddha

Delhi Legislative Assembly's Committee on Peace and Harmony chairman Raghav Chadha on Sunday said that farmers should be guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP).

While speaking to ANI, Chadha said, "Our demand is that farmers should be guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP). Legal rights of MSP should be given to every farmer."

"The Working Group on Consumer Affairs was formed in 2011 and was headed by Narendra Modi, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat. That committee had said that farmers should get MSP guarantee but today's Prime Minister does not agree with the views of the then Gujarat Chief Minister," added Chaddha.
