Dharma Sansad to be held in Nashik, discussions on birthplace of Lord Hanuman
After the Gyanvapi row, a controversy has surfaced over the birthplace of Lord Hanuman.
In order to resolve the issue, Swami Aniket Shastri Deshpande Maharaj of Mahant Shri Mandalacharya Peethadheeshwar has called a Dharma Sansad on May 31 in Nashik.
In the Dharma Sansad, all the sadhus across the country will put forth their views regarding the birthplace of Lord Hanuman and after that whatever decision will be taken in Sansad will be accepted by all, said Swami Aniket.
Notably, a saint from Karnataka has claimed that Lord Hanuman was not born in Anjaneri in Nashik but in Kishkindha, Karnataka.
Referring to Valmiki Ramayana, Mahant Govind Das of Kishkindha has claimed that Lord Hanuman was born in Kishkindha.
He said that in the Ramayana, Maharishi Valmiki has nowhere written that Lord Hanuman was born in Anjaneri. The birthplace always remains in one place and it is not written anywhere that Lord Hanuman was born in Anjaneri, Nashik.
With this claim, Mahant Govind reached Trimbakeshwar, taking out a chariot, where he will hold discussions with saints in Nashik regarding the birthplace of Lord Hanuman based on scriptures.
In view of Dharma Sansad to be held on May 31, Nashik Police issued a notice to organizers to maintain law and order.
BJP Chief J P Nadda lauds PM Modi for leaving out politics at 'Mann Ki Baat'
Lauding the positive attitude of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Jagat Prakash Nadda on Sunday said that PM Modi, during the 89 episodes of 'Mann Ki Baat' has never discussed politics.
While addressing party workers in Gurugram in Haryana, he said that BJP workers at around 10.40 lakh booths in more than 5.5 lakh locations tune in to PM Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' at the same time.
"This was the 89th time... at all times, PM Modi never discussed politics," he added.
"In today's edition, Prime Minister talked about the environment, then talked about cleanliness. He also discussed how the people of India are making efforts to strengthen the country. Along with this, Modi ji also discussed efforts to provide drinking water in the village," he stated.
BJP is engaged to awaken society to move ahead with non-political subjects. This effort of the 'Mann Ki Baat ' program at the booth level is being operated by the party.
Taking note of litter on the Char Dham Yatra route, PM Modi on Sunday in 'Mann Ki Baat' expressed concern over garbage dumps in the Kedarnath Temple areas and urged the people to ensure that the surroundings are kept clean.
HC issues norms for quick disposal of criminal cases against politicians
The Karnataka High Court in an interim order has issued several guidelines for the speedy disposal of criminal cases against politicians and influential persons, including a deadline of 90 days for serious offences.
Among the 17 guidelines issued by the court, the directions include the implementation of the Witness Protection Scheme to safeguard the lives and interests of complainants.
Justice S Sunil Dutt Yadav fixed a deadline of 60 days for probing petty offences and 90 days for serious and heinous offences. However, the deadlines can be extended by the magistrates and judges if the investigating agency seeks extension with valid reasons.
The interim order issued on May 17 came on a petition by Sujit Mulgund, who alleged corruption charges against Abhay Kumar Patil, a two-time MLA from Belgaum South constituency. The complaint sought investigation into disproportionate assets of Patil.
The complainant alleged that he is subject to constant threats to his life and relentless harassment since the time he filed the complaint. Patil and his henchmen are allegedly harassing Mulgund and forcing him to withdraw the complaint.
Mulgund had filed a private complaint of corruption charges against the politician.
Citing inordinate delay in the case, the court noted that the complaint was originally filed in 2012 but till date, no charge sheet has been filed by the investigating police. The case is now being investigated by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Belagavi.
Among the other guidelines in the order, the HC has directed that investigating police should inform the magistrate of any interference in investigation by the accused and bottlenecks faced in the probe.
Daughter recalls 'talking' on toy phone with army officer dad killed in action
Simran Randhawa recalls using a toy phone to make imaginary calls to "talk" to her father, Major Sukhvinder Singh Randhawa, who was killed during an anti-militancy operation in Pulwama in 1997 when she was just 18 months old.
Narrating her experience in her book 'Cost of War', Simran says it is easy to chant for war and action from the safety of one's home but there is a price for every victory.
"I wanted to write a book to describe how a child feels after he or she has lost father. War does not just end with fallen soldiers. It also leaves behind the tattered lives of their families," 26-year-old Simran, currently studying psychology in Canada, said.
Her father, Major Randhawa, was awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously after he laid down his life but only after killing two terrorists on June 17, 1997. She was 18 months at that time.
Her mother, Lt Col R J Randhawa, was the first married women officer commissioned in the Army and the credit goes to Ranjana Malik, the then president of the Army Wives Welfare Association, who pursued her case through her husband and then Army chief Gen Ved Prakash Malik.
"It was a case closely followed by Ranjana and I had a meeting with the then Raksha Mantri (Defence Minister) Mulayam Singh Yadav, who gave clearance for relaxing the rules and allowing her to be commissioned in the army," Malik said at the book launch.
In the book, Simran talks about moments of her life where she missed her father and questioned those who indulge in warmongering.
