After the glacier tragedy in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on Sunday, interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi said she is concerned about the natural disaster hitting the Himalayan state in which several human lives have been lost.
Sonia Gandhi said in a statement: "Concerned about the disturbing news of 'glacier break', flooding and destruction in Uttarakhand, and the resultant projection of danger in the downstream catchment of river Ganga."
"I pray for the safety of people and request Congress workers and volunteers to help the people and the authorities in their relief and rescue efforts. The Indian National Congress stands with the people of Uttarakhand in this hour of tragedy and crisis," she added.

Uttarakhand flood: Seven Navy diving teams, IAF on standby
Seven diving teams of the Indian Navy are on standby for relief operations in flood-affected areas at Joshimath in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on Sunday, officials said.
At least 150 have died in Chamoli district, as per the Indo-Tibetan Border Police following a flash flood in the Rishi Ganga river near Joshimath on Sunday morning as a glacier broke up and fell into the river, exponentially increasing its volume.
The Indian Army was pressed into service to carry out rescue operations in flood-affected areas.
Troops have been moved towards the flood-affected areas in Dhauliganga, where the massive flood occurred.
Sixteen labourers rescued from tunnel
Sixteen workers were rescued on Sunday from a tunnel of Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project after they were trapped there due to flash floods triggered by a glacial burst in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, officials said.
Indo-Tibetan Border Police, State Disaster Response Force and other agencies were carrying out rescue operations on a war footing, they said.
"Sixteen labourers have been rescued from the tunnel," an official said.
A part of the Nanda Devi glacier broke off at Joshimath on Sunday, leading to a massive flood in the Dhauli Ganga river and bringing back memories of the 2013 deluge in the hill state.
