Mamata Banerjee likely to skip PM Narendra Modi's event in West Bengal
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is unlikely to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled programme at Haldia in Purba Medinipore district on Sunday evening, a top official at the state secretariat said.
The exact reason for this uncertainty has not been specified, but the "insult meted out to her" on January 23, when Jai Shri Ram' slogans were raised at an event just before her speech, could be the cause, he said. Modi is set to inaugurate four projects in Haldia in oil, gas, and infrastructure sectors.

UP govt to open free coaching centres for competitive exams from Feb 16
Extending assistance to the youth appearing in competitive exams, the Uttar Pradesh government will start free-of-cost coaching centres at the divisional level in the state from February 16 under a new scheme called 'Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana', an official spokesman said here on Saturday.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to set up 'Abhyudaya' coaching centres for aspiring candidates preparing to qualify the NEET, JEE (Mains and Advanced), CDS, NDA, UPSC and all other competitive exams.
The free coaching facility will provide great support to the poor and deprived students whose guidance will be taken care of by the state government, the spokesman said. The free-of-cost coaching institutes will start functioning from the auspicious day of 'Basant Panchami' on February 16 and registration for classes will commence on February 10, he added.

Delhi AQI improves to 'moderate' category, likely to deteriorate
The air quality of the national capital improved to the 'moderate' category on Sunday as the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 159. According to the System of Air Quality & Weather Forecasting & Research (SAFAR), the concentration of PM 10 particles stood at 149 while PM 2.5 at 78. AQI between 0-50 is marked good, 51-100 is satisfactory, 101- 200 is moderate, 201- 300 is poor, 301-400 is very poor and 401-500 is considered severe.
Most Influencing factor forecasted to deteriorate AQI of Delhi includes stubble burning, mixing layer height, local wind speed, and external dust impact.
Surface winds were high and West-Southwesterly direction. They are forecasted to stay high for the next two days. AQI is likely to marginally deteriorate and in the Moderate to Poor category for Monday as the concentration of PM 10 particles is forecasted to be at 187 while of PM 2.5 at 97. Poor to the lower end of Very Poor AQI is forecasted 8th and 9th February.

Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui released from Indore central jail
Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui walked out of Indore central jail late on Saturday night, a day after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a case for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Faruqui was released from the jail after the prison authorities received the order of the Supreme Court, an official of the jail said.

President Ram Nath Kovind to visit Andhra Pradesh on Sunday
President Ram Nath Kovind is scheduled to visit Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district on Sunday to inaugurate a yoga hall at a spiritual centre, along with a school.
"President Ram Nath Kovind will reach Madanapalle on Sunday afternoon and visit The Satsang Foundation to inaugurate a Yoga hall and Bharat Yoga Vidya centre," said chief secretary Aditya Nath Das on Tuesday.
The President will also lay the foundation for a 38-bed hospital. After that, he will visit Sadum to interact with the students of Peepal Grove school.
