Droupadi Murmu will become the 10th successive president to take oath on July 25 since 1977. Records show that since 1977, successive presidents have taken oath on July 25. India's first President Rajendra Prasad took oath on January 26, 1950 -- the day India became a Republic.
In 1952, he went on to win the first presidential poll. He won the second presidential election and was in office till May 1962. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan took oath as the president on May 13, 1962 and was in office till May 13, 1967.
Two presidents -- Zakir Husain and Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed -- could not complete their tenures as they died in harness.
Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, the sixth president of India, took oath on July 25, 1977. Since then successive presidents including Giani Zail Singh, R Venkataraman, Shankar Dayal Sharma, K R Narayanan, A P J Abdul Kalam, Pratibha Patil, Pranab Mukherjee and Ram Nath Kovind have taken oath on July 25.

Maharashtra reports 2,015 Covid cases, six deaths, 1,916 recoveries
Maharashtra on Sunday reported 2,015 fresh COVID-19 cases and six fatalities, taking the tally to 80,34,261 and the toll to 1,48,062, an official said.
The addition to the tally was less than the 2,336 reported on Saturday, but the deaths increased by one from the previous day when five people had succumbed, he said.
Of the new cases, Pune circle reported 680, followed by 462 in Mumbai circle, 313 in Nagpur, 209 in Nashik, 107 in Kolhapur, 85 in Akola, 81 in Aurangabad and 78 in the Latur Circle. Three deaths were reported in Mumbai Circle, two in Nagpur and one in Pune circle, as per state health department data.

Monkeypox-infected Delhi man stable, had painful lesions
The condition of the 34-year-old man from Delhi, the first in the city to contract monkeypox, is "stable" though he had painful lesions, official sources said on Sunday.
A resident of west Delhi with no history of foreign travel, he was isolated at the city government-run Lok Nayak Jayaprakash (LNJP) Hospital around three days ago after he showed symptoms of the disease.
"The patient is in a stable condition. Efforts are on by surveillance teams to trace other people he may have come in contact with. The patient had painful lesions, which is one of the symptoms of monkeypox. We also analysed his condition and ruled out several other ailments," an official source told PTI.

Sikkim reports 121 new Covid cases, two fresh fatalities
Sikkim's COVID-19 tally rose to 41,206 on Sunday as 121 more people tested positive for the infection, while two fresh fatalities pushed the Himalayan state's coronavirus death toll to 468, a health bulletin said. The state had reported 162 cases on the previous day.
Sikkim now has 1,217 active cases, while 38,747 people have recovered from the disease and 774 patients have migrated to other states.
The Himalayan state has thus far tested 3,53,736 samples for COVID-19, including 733 in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate dipped to 13.38 per cent from 19.47 per cent on the previous day.

Monkeypox in Delhi: Experts say remain cautious but don't panic
After the detection of a monkeypox case in the capital on Sunday, which took the nation's case tally to four, city doctors have urged people to remain cautious but not to panic, PTI reported.
Globally, over 16,000 cases of monkeypox have been reported from 75 countries, including five deaths in Africa, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The UN health body on Saturday also declared the infection as a public health emergency of international concern.
Monkeypox is a viral disease that is typically identified with fever, rash and swollen lymph nodes along the skin lesions. However, it is a self-limiting disease and the patients recover within four weeks, health experts said.

Q1 results: Infosys consolidated net profit up 3% at Rs 5,360 crore
Infosys on Sunday reported a 3.2 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 5,360 crore for the April-June quarter.
The IT company has raised full-year FY23 revenue guidance to 14-16% from 13-15%. It has retained its operating margin guidance at 21%-23%.
