As leaders meet, Chinese hope for end to 'zero-COVID' limits
As China's ruling Communist Party holds a congress this week, many Beijing residents are focused on an issue not on the formal agenda: Will the end of the meeting bring an easing of China's at times draconian zero-COVID policies that are disrupting lives and the economy?
It appears to be wishful thinking. As the world moves to a post-pandemic lifestyle, many across China have resigned themselves to lining up several times a week for COVID-19 tests, restrictions on their travels to other regions, and the ever-present possibility of a community lockdown.
There is nothing we can do, Zhang Yiming, 51, said this week at a park in Beijing. If we look at the situation abroad, like the United States where over 1 million people have died, right? In China, although it is true that some aspects of our life are not convenient, such as travel and economy, it seems that there is no good solution.

As India-EU marks 60 years of bilateral relations the new free trade agreement negotiations can deliver what proved to be impossible 9 years ago, said media reports quoting Kathleen Van Brempt, a Member of the European Parliament.
The FTA negotiations between India and the EU kicked off in 2007 but in 2013 they were put on hold. However, MEP Brempt in an article on Europe Asia Foundation said that the current negotiations between India and the EU will bear fruit.
India and the EU have been strategic partners since 2005. The COVID pandemic has posed great challenges. It led to further expansion and diversification of supply chains. The global world order is also witnessing a change due to the war in Eastern Europe.

Covid vaccine to cost $110-$130 per dose after US govt stops buying: Pfizer
Pfizer will charge USD 110 to USD 130 for a dose of its COVID-19 vaccine once the U.S. government stops buying the shots, but the drugmaker says it expects many people will continue receiving it for free.

The drugmaker said it expects that people with private health insurance or coverage through public programs like Medicare or Medicaid will pay nothing. The Affordable Care Act requires insurers to cover many recommended vaccines without charging any out-of-pocket expenses.

Earlier, investigators held eight public hearings in June and July as part of the inquiry, which Trump, a Republican, has denounced as a political "witch hunt" launched by Democrats.
India's approach to Ukraine conflict people-centric: India at UNSC
India at UNSC on Friday said that its approach to the Ukraine conflict will continue to be people-centric as New Delhi continues to support nations struck by a surge in food, fuel and fertilizers prices.
"India's approach to the Ukraine conflict will continue to be people-centric. We're providing both humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and economic support to some of our neighbours in the Global South under economic distress even as they stare at the escalating costs of food, fuel and of fertilizers which has been a consequential fallout of the ongoing conflict," Ambassador R Ravindra, Deputy Permanent Representative at United Nations Security Council said at the UNSecurity Council briefing on Ukraine.
Earlier, India hoped that the international community will continue to respond positively to the call for humanitarian assistance. India has dispatched consignments of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This humanitarian aid and assistance were in keeping with the human-centric approach of the Indian Government.
