India's ban on wheat exports since May has hit Singapore eateries serving soft chewy chapati, mostly for Punjabis, as the cost has gone up by three times on imports of the similar in quality staple north Indian basic food material from other countries amidst the war in Ukraine, according to a media report on Tuesday.
Supermarket chain FairPrice said the supply of wheat flour had been low due to increased demand in the past few weeks, possibly due to the wheat and flour ban from India.
FairPrice's suppliers are sourcing wheat flour from various countries like Sri Lanka, Australia, Canada, and the United States, according to a report by The Straits Times.

Dengue cases continued to rise in West Bengal, as the state recorded 840 new infections, health department officials said.
Most of the cases have been reported from North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Kolkata, Hooghly, Murshidabad, South 24 Parganas, Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling districts, they said.
The state had logged 635 new cases on Saturday. At present, 541 patients are undergoing treatment at government hospitals.

India logged 3,230 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 44,575,473, while the active cases declined to 42,358, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.
The death toll climbed to 528,562 with 32 fatalities which includes 22 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The active cases comprise 0.10 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.72 per cent, the ministry said.
A decline of 1,057 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

In a letter to Modi, the Sikhs of America urged the prime minister to set up a committee to look into the issue and also to find out how many such Sikhs are languishing in prisons. Many of these Sikhs are in jails despite having completed their court mandate, it alleged.
By some accounts their number is close to 800, claimed the letter submitted to visiting External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at an event here on Sunday.
